Arbor Day Celebration

Celebrating in a time of social distancing!

As celebrations of every type have adapted and taken on new life online, the City’s annual Arbor Day celebration is no different. The City of Creve Coeur has been a distinguished and recognized “Tree City” for the past 23 years. As such, Arbor Day signifies an opportunity to educate and inspire residents about the importance, value and love of trees.

The City is hosting a virtual Arbor Day Celebration on Sunday, April 25, 2021. The public can look forward to the following:

Free Webinar: Hosted by Dan Billman, ISA Certified Arborist. Dan has been in the horticultural industry for 37 years, including design, installation, research and development for Home Nursery, Inc. In St. Louis, Dan has spent the majority of his time as an associate professor of horticulture at St. Louis Community College–Meramec and presently works at Kirkwood Gardens. Dan will host a Zoom webinar on native trees and shrubs beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Viewers are encouraged to ask or submit questions to Dan during this event.

Free Plant Giveaway: On Sunday, April 25, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Millennium Park, the Horticulture, Ecology and Beautification Committee will be handing out free Cephalanthus occidentalis (common name buttonbush) seedlings and Arbor Day gift bags with items promoting tree planting and health.

Free Virtual Activities for the Kids: The Arbor Day Foundation is promoting Celebrating In A Time of Social Distancing, offering activities and suggestions to celebrate Arbor Day, as well as online educational activities for the kids on Carly’s Kids Corner, including digital games and printable activity sheets.
