Criminal Investigation Unit

INVESTIGATIONS Bureau

The Creve Coeur Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, or Detective Bureau, is under the command of the Support Services and Investigations Division Commander. This division consists of five detectives, a School Resource Officer (SRO), and a Detective Lieutenant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Criminal Investigations Unit is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations into crimes reported in the city, crime scene processing and evidence management. Detectives are on-call 24 hours a day.

Within the unit, detectives have sub-specialties: 

  • Fraud 
  • Identity Theft 
  • Sex Crimes 
  • Auto Theft 
  • Burglary 

In addition, the bureau has certified examiners in truth verification, utilizing the latest Computer Voice Stress Analyzer, or CVSA, an instrument used in lie detection. Detectives within the bureau are members of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis and often assist outside agencies in other investigations.

Members of the Criminal Investigations Division can be reached in the office during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
