After nearly two years of planning and research, the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) has adopted the Comprehensive Plan. Titled “Creve Coeur 2030,” the plan guides the city’s land use policies and serves as an update to the 2002 Comprehensive Plan.
Creve Coeur 2030 includes many of the same objectives as the 2002 Comprehensive Plan including neighborhood preservation, business district revitalization, improved livability, and quality economic development with updated strategies to address the needs and desires of the community.
The plan introduces a new geographic framework for future land use based on Community Place Type districts. A Community Place Type identifies existing physical character of development, streets, infrastructure, and public spaces to formulate recommendations to carry out the vision. A total of 11 Community Place Types were identified with recommendations provided for each Place Type.
Creve Coeur 2030 also provides citywide systems recommendations covering bicycle and pedestrian connectivity, sustainability, parks and open space, and public art. The implementation section of the plan calls for several early action items and an implementation matrix to prioritize and provide time frames for the strategies.
The Plan was drafted with the help of the consulting firm H3 Studio using feedback from residents and community stakeholders. P&Z conducted a community survey, five public workshops and several group work sessions to gather feedback on the plan. They also held four public hearings over the course of four meetings to review and obtain input on the draft plan before it was adopted.
