[ARCHIVED] Resident Survey Results Now Available

Resident Survey

The City of Creve Coeur conducted its triennial resident survey during May 2018 as part of the City’s continued effort to assess citizen satisfaction with the quality of City services and to obtain input on key issues facing the City. Of the randomly selected households, 577 responded to the seven-page survey, exceeding the goal of 400 completed surveys.

The City contracted with ETC Institute, who compiled and analyzed survey responses. The results of the survey were presented to the City Council during the Council Work Session on June 25, 2018.

The City of Creve Coeur continues to score high above the averages seen both regionally and nationally. Of the residents surveyed who had an opinion, nearly 97% said they were satisfied with the City of Creve Coeur as a place to live, 93% were satisfied with the City as a place to raise children, and 84% were satisfied with the City as a place to work.

Of those surveyed, 91% were satisfied with the overall quality of City services, with park maintenance (93%) and police services (91%) scoring the highest satisfaction ratings.

Based on the survey responses, the City was also able to identify areas for improvement. High priority areas for improvement include level of public involvement in decision making, number of walking and biking trails, and overall quality of building inspections and permits.

The survey also addresses the City’s concern about the growing cost of City services and decreasing revenues. Of those surveyed, 55% would prefer to increase taxes to maintain the current level of City services and 45% would prefer to maintain the current tax rate while cutting back on some City services. When asked what revenue options residents would prefer in order to maintain the current level of City services, the top two responses were increasing the business license fee (43%) and establishing a use tax on out-of-state purchases (25%).

The results of the final survey report will help guide City Council in setting priorities for the next three years. The full report is available at www.crevecoeurmo.gov/ResidentSurvey.
